Another question for all of you
I was wondering do you wash your fabric before stitching or after or not at all??
And, if you do wash fabric what kind of detergent do you use. Just wondering.....
Usually, I wash the fabric before hand. I just use what I use for laundry which is Tide. Lots of times, my husband will fold the fabric after it comes out of the dryer.
I wash my fabric too and I use laundry detergent (whatever is on sale at Costco) but I was just wondering if others do that too, thanks Karen. I love all your album blocks!!
Never pre-wash but usually wash after the quilt is quilted to get that sweet crinkly look. I have paid the price for a few reds, but generally can cure that with a second wash with a color catcher safety pinned to the spot.
Hi Ruth that's what I do to , but if it's a wall hanging I wash afterwords and then I do what Diane does but I don't like when my darks bleed. Thank you commenting. Hugs Mary
Please don't wash fabric or finished quilts with laundry detergent! It is too harsh, and will leach colors eventually. There are quilt soaps available, or a teaspoon of mild dish soap, or Orvus paste.

ReplyDeleteThanks Diane great tip...hugs maru
ReplyDeleteI always wash my fabric first and use whatever laundry soap is on hand. I dry it to damp and then iron it.
