MANDY'S BABY QUILT IS DONE!!!!!

Hi Everyone, have been very busy this past week, my husband's niece Mandy had her baby - a Boy, 8 lbs 5 ounces, named Noah. So just put the binding on last night, when we got the phone call that she had the baby, good timing huh???

The back of the quilt was little polka dots in yellow (hope you can see from picture). Hubby was holding quilt so that is his head poking over the top of quilt. Then he made me hold it while he took a picture. (I look horrible as I have been so tired lately?!?!?!) Think it's the weather around here, yucky!!

Anyway, The Quilt was delivered today just in time for her little one to be wrapped up in it!

Now, I have begin appliquing "When the Cold Winds Blow", class is on Fri, so should have first block basted! So...crunch time.

WHEN THE COLD WIND BLOWS....

Hi Everyone!! What am I working on???? I am making "Love Letters" by Alma Allen and "The Hedge Apple" is the first block. Actually, I am taking a class in needle-turn and this is the quilt they choose. Which I love anything by Blackbird Designs, so am giving my needle-turn experience a much needed "nudge"!

After making two baby quilts, I was kind of in a slump, in what to do next, so this came up and I grabbed at the chance to make a quilt by Blackbird.

Will post pictures as I am working on each block...

Update on the "Baby Quilt" still is at LQS to be quilted, will have to call today and see how far they have gotten,

WHILE WAITING TO PICK UP MY YOUNGEST FROM DRIVER'S ED (YES, SHE IS LEARNING TO DRIVE:[ ) I TOOK A FEW PICTURES OF MY BABY COOPER....WELL, AS YOU CAN SEE HE IS NOT REALLY A BABY ANYMORE. HE TURNED ONE YRS OLD ON MONDAY AND IS GETTING BIGGER EVERY DAY!!!!

BABY SHOWER UPDATE AND VALENTINE SWAP

HI EVERYONE! JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU MANDY AND CHET'S BABY SHOWER WAS A LOT OF FUN, SHE GOT ALOT OF REALLY NICE GIFTS AND SHE LOVED THE BABY QUILT. I HAVE IT NOW AT THE LQS TO BE MACHINE QUILTED (WITH CIRCLES), SO WILL HAVE IT BACK BY NEXT WEEKEND...

JUST POSTED PICTURES ON PAT SLOAN'S SECRET VALENTINE SWAP....THIS WAS REALLY FUN, I ENJOYED MAKING A TEA TOWEL AND OTHER GOODIES (VALENTINE'S DAY RELATED) AND HOPE MY SECRET SWAPPER WILL LIKE THEM TOO!

FOR SOME STRANGE REASON MY COMPUTER IS BEING REALLY SLOW TODAY, SO AM TRYING TO UPLOAD MORE PICTURES, BUT IT WON'T LET ME! ANYWAY, THE TEA TOWEL HAS A BASKET WITH A SNOWMEN (BECAUSE I AM PARTIAL TO SNOWMEN) AND A STAR AND A HEART, I GOT THIS PATTERN OFF OF BUNNY TAILS FREE PATTERN DOWNLOADS! IT IS REALLY CUTE, IF I CAN GET THIS PICTURE THINGY TO WORK, I WILL UPLOAD MORE PICS!!

Part 5 ... Mandy's Baby Quilt

I just finished all 25 blocks - piecing that is! Now on to hand applique - the circles! Here is what I will be working on tonight. Stay Warm,

These are just a few of the fabrics I used. I hope to have half the blocks appliqued with circles by the Shower this weekend, then I can take what I have done and show her what it is going to look like once done. She is due March 7th, so will have all of Feb to get circles on and then quilt.

DO OVER...RIP, RIP, RIP

OH NO!!!! BLOCKS ARE NOT TURNING OUT TO BE PINWHEELS!!! SO WENT BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD, NOT REALLY DRAWING BOARD, BUT PATTERN AND SAW WHERE I DID NOT FLIP THE TOP OF THE PINWHEEL, SOOOOOO HAVE TO RIP 25 BLOCKS APART AND THEN BEGIN ALL OVER SEWING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A PICTURE OF WHAT THEY SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE.. THANK GOD FOR SEAM RIPPERS!!

MANDY'S BABY QUILT PART 3

OK HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE BABY QUILT ALL WEEK AND HAVE ALL THE PINWHEELS CUT AND SEWN TOGETHER. ALL I NEED TO DO NOW IS ADD TOP, BOTTOM AND SIDE PIECES TO EACH 8 PIECE PINWHEEL. THEN COMES THE PART OF APPLIQUEING THE CIRCLES ON...SO WILL NOT DO MUCH POSTING THIS WEEKEND AS AM BUSY WORKING, WORKING, WORKING. SHOWER IS NEXT SAT :( WISH I HAD MORE TIME...HUGS, MARY

MANDY'S BABY QUILT...PART TWO

PART TWO OF BABY QUILT....















AM MAKING SOME PROGRESS ON MANDY'S BABY QUILT. FIRST I HAD TO WASH ALL THE FABRICS, BECAUSE IT'S A BABY QUILT AND IT PROBABLY WILL BE WASHED ALOT, SO DIDN'T WANT THE COLORS TO BLEED. THEN IRONING!!! I DON'T WHAT MY WASHING MACHINE DOES WHEN I WASH FABRICS, BUT I SWEAR IT SORT OF EATS THEM! HONESTLY, AFTER I PUT THEM IN THE DRYER, WELL THEY COME OUT ALL SHRIVELED! NOW I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE USED THE TRICK OF SAFETY PINNING THE ENDS (ONE END OF ONE PIECE OF FABRIC TO IT'S END), BUT I WANTED THIS PROCESS TO GO FAST....SO SPENT LOTS OF TIME IRONING!!!!

NOW THAT THAT'S DONE, ON TO CUTTING. FIRST MADE THE CIRCLES, THEN STARTED CUTTING OUT THE TRIANGLES FOR PINWHEELS.

NEXT ATTEMPT THE OFF WHITE FABRICS INTO TRIANGLES AND RECTANGLES - THAT WILL BE TODAY. MY GOAL IS TO START PIECING BY TONIGHT... SO HERE IS WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR....


ALSO, SOME PICS OF COOPER WITH SOME OF HIS "NEW" TOYS, SINCE HE HAS DESTROYED ALL TOYS GIVEN TO HIM AT CHRISTMAS. SO WHILE I HAD MY CAMERA OUT HAD TO TAKE PICS OF OUR LOVELY FRIGID SNOW COVERED STREET AND THE VIEW FROM MY KITCHEN WINDOW.... C O L D!!!! RIGHT NOW WE ARE 10 BELOW ZERO, THE TEMP AND WINDCHILL IS 20 SOMETHING BELOW...VERY, VERY, C O L D!!!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, KATE HOME FROM WORK PLAYING WITH COOPER (ONCE THE CAMERA IS OUT, EVERYTHING IS GAME)!!!
