MISSOURI DAISY SASHING OPTION???
WAS PLAYING WITH THE STRIPS TODAY SEEING HOW I LIKED THE LOOK OF THE DIFFERENT SIZE STRIPS FOR SASHING AROUND BLOCKS. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS ME OR DOES SOMETHING SEEM OFF...MAYBE I SHOULD USE JUST ONE SIZE AND ONE COLOR TO SEPARATE BLOCKS? THEN I THOUGHT MAYBE I SHOULD JUST BUTT THEM UP AGAINST ONE ANOTHER, I DON'T KNOW, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR IDEAS...
NOW I HAVEN'T SEWN THE STRIP TOGETHER YET, AM STILL PLAYING WITH THEM. I COULD JUST USE ONE YELLOW STRIP (ABOUT 1 1/2 INCHES WIDTH) TO FRAME BLOCKS, JUST THINKING OUT LOUD HERE...
I DON'T KNOW, WHAT DO ALL YOU LADIES THINK?
THANKS AND MANY HUGS,
MARY
P.S. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it needs sashing but only ONE...not two sashings. I think either color or width is fine....as long as you just stick with one. (Of course, that is just MY taste, but it looks too cluttered with two strips of sashing like you are showing here....and to smushed together in the photo with NO sashing.)
ReplyDeleteI like it without or with 1 sashing. I agree that it's a bit busy with the different sizes/colors. You don't want to detract from your beautiful stars! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think your blocks are lovely.....IMHO I like it with one sashing. can't wait to see what you decide, it will be beautiful either way. :)
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous and antique looking, Mary - sashing? maybe just one fine strip and binding to match - I think it has grat charm and even just binding and lots of lovely quilting would be lovely!

I love the multistrips of sashing, or the no sashing at all. Either way it is stunning - I want a quilt that beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the triple sashing. Check out my Grandma's Dresden Plate quilt on my blog. My goal was to incorporate reproduction fabrics with original early 1940's blocks made by my mother in law. I mixed up the sashing strips and added the corners. All in all I was happy with the final result. We all have different ideas and it is always fun to audition fabrics. Have fun! That is the most important thing, to enjoy the creative process.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably going to find someone for each combination you are thinking of. My personal choice would be a single sashing to give it a less busy look.
ReplyDeleteI really like just the triple sashing in the light colors, I think it looks great! Personally I think the purple may be a light bright for your beautiful stars.
ReplyDeleteI think that either a single sash or a triple sash but not both of them together!
ReplyDeleteI love the purple fabric though... I might go with that one if it were my quilt!
Good Luck :)
I have just disovered your blog and I love those daisy blocks, so bright and fresh. I think it definately needs sashing but only one colour so it doesn't take away from the daisies. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide and how it looks finished.
