REINDEER SIGHTING!!!!
Yes I bought reindeer antlers for Cooper! He even allowed me to take his pic but we compromised...Snoopy had to stay in his mouth!!!
We had Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day we visited with Dave's Mom and Sister, here are a look at some of my pictures...the stockings were hung with a wintery blast of snow in the background...
Then one of the girls posing by the tree...
Then one of Angie and Mike... ok Mike was goofing around in this pic so had to take another one! Yep, this one is better of him! But that is Mike ALWAYS being goofy!
These are of my family and their pets, yes we had three dogs here this Christmas Eve... Lois is holding Izzy and Margie (the one in gold is holding Maxi), Maxi is really Nancy's dog so here is one of Nancy - opps Nancy has her eyes closed and the man behind her is her hubby Jim, so let me give you another one of Nancy..
Cooper thinks Izzie and Maxie are toys, so keeping them apart was a real joy!!
Here is hubby and my brother in law, Jim sharing some bubbly, my sister Lois in munching on some goodies in the background! (caught her) And, here is our tree with all it's presents underneath - you could say we love to give or this is commercialism at it's best!
This one is of Dave and me.. Yes I am "squishing him" and what is with the eye makeup Mary, and the hair - I think I was channeling "Dolly Parton" oh well too tired to care at that point.
And if you want a real "treat" watch this video of my 86 yr old Mom reciting "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and then what is this???
I am "getting" a quilt for Christmas?????? Dave's nephew's, Wife, Sam (remember Ryan and Sam, I made them a baby quilt a while ago, well Sam is quilting now and she made this for me, it is supposed to be used on a table, but it is too precious for a table, so I draped it over my couch in Living Room - I just can't believe I finally have a Christmas Quilt that someone made actually for me!!!Thank you Sam!!!!!!! The colors in the quilt are just perfect for our home and she even made her binding and you should see how perfectly she put the binding on! I am in awe! Sam is such a sweety , thank you sooooooooooooooooooooo much, Sam, Love Ya!!
Well, that is Christmas at the Burns', until next time....
Happy New Year everyone and God Bless All of You,
Many, Many Grateful Hugs,
Mary

Cooper...the life of a dog....
Haven't done any sewing lately, instead this is what I am up to:
Taking pictures of Cooper...
On Friday Night, Cooper and I were alone (everyone was at the Blackhawk Game - hockey), so I was busy in our family room putting gifts in boxes, when I noticed he was very, very quiet, so I went into the kitchen and this is what I found..his favorite toy, "teddy bear" was in his mouth and he was "gutting it". Cooper loves, loves, loves to take toys apart - I think it is his breed! But "teddy" was hanging out of his mouth and I thought it was tooo cute, so I grabbed my camera. I really do not walk around with my camera on me, but it was in the other room, so just grabbed it.
Earlier that day when I got up to see youngest off to school, this is Cooper playing "dead dog"...how could one lay and be comfortable - I have no idea, but he loves to lay with his stomach up against my counter. Maybe Cooper has some issues - do Dogs have Issues??? People do so maybe Dogs do to...well, this is what has been happening in my life - Exciting isn't it?? Sometimes I just can't seem to contain all the excitement that happens to me in one day!!!!
Hugs,
Mary

SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS....
I don't know what is wrong with me, but I can't seem to get any sewing done these last couple of days...it seems lately I spend more time in the car than at home! I am not doing anything really important, just running here and there, standing in lines and trying to stay in the budget for the kid's christmas gifts. Oh and trying to fit time to workout...
I am almost done Christmas Shopping, and will finish up tomorrow, so maybe, Maybe, next week I can get back to my sewing room.
We celebrate Christmas Eve here at my house with my Sisters and their families and my Mom, so will start to prepare on Wednesday for that!! I love having Christmas Eve and then Christmas we visit Dave's Mom who lives with one of his sisters.
How are your Christmas preparations coming?!??!? Any secrets on how to stay on task with sewing projects -any advice welome!
Hugs to all,
Mary

"A Charlie Brown Christmas"
On this day in 1965, the classic "A Charlie Brown Christmas" premiered on TV.
It was based on the Infancy Narrative of St. Luke. In the plot, Charlie Brown tries to find the true meaning of Christmas. He is assigned the pick out the Christmas Tree. But, as usual, his choice of tree is met with much dislike. Charlie Brown once again feels like a failure. Until Linus recounts the story of the birth of Jesus. Then Charlie Brown declares "I won't all this commercialism ruin my Christmas"!. "I'll take this little tree home and decorate it and I'll show them it really will work in our play." He headed home and came upon Snoopy's prizewinning doghouse. Charlie Brown grabged a large red ornament from the roof and hung it carefully on the top branch of his little Christmas tree. But when he placed the one large ornament on the little tree it bent over. Charlie Brown thought he had killed the little tree, but then Linus and the rest of Charlie Brown's friends came along and Linus said, "its not a bad tree at all, maybe it just needs a little love", and wrapped his blanket at the base of the tree. All the others without a word went over to Snoopy's doghouse and removed all the decorations and placed them all on the little tree. They even placed a Star at the top! Charlie Brown could not believe it, his friends' efforts had transformed it into something truly special. Surrounded by his friends, Charlie Brown realized that Linus had been right about the true meaning of Christmas. This was the Christmas spirit he had been looking for all along.
The program won an Emmy and a Peabody Award, and led to more than 30 additional Peanuts shows.

MY WEEKEND....
.
This weekend was pretty full...We had a Blackhawks' Game to go to Friday night. We sit in the 3rd Balcony and got some cool pictures of the United Center in Chicago and all the fans. Hubby and our 2 daughters and their boyfriends came along, so you know I just had to take pictures of them!
Saturday did a little sewing on my Missouri Daisys and made two snowmen pillows, aren't they cute!! I just love snowmen!
Sunday was putting up Christmas around the house, so up went our tree, lights, wreaths, well, you get the picture. We didn't put the ornaments on, because our Son is still at college (will be home this weekend), so the girls wanted to wait for him to decorate (I swear, sometimes I wonder how old my young adults are???) but its Tradition to decorate the Tree with ALL of them home, so will wait for weekend!
Then hubby and I went to Lifetime Fitness where I bicycled 11 miles - OUCH!!! Lately we try and workout together on Sundays and it is really fun, but I think I overdid it!!
Then came home and did more sewing (Miss. Daisys) and my sister gave me some really cute red/white material from IKEA that she wants a valance made for her livingroom, so was cutting those out yesterday!
Oh, and almost forgot, hubby took some pics of Cooper and me in the morning, so thought you might enjoy these!! I like the one with the ball in his mouth! Cooper thinks he is a Lap Dog (told you he has issues)!!??!?!?!
Enjoy,
Happy Monday,
Hugs,
Mary
